Geranium
Fortunate is the way I feel at times. I have lived in this same neighborhood all my life. Not because I need to live here it is because I want to live here. My neighbors old and new are respectful and considerate and very helpful at times of need. I cannot say enough good things about them. My new neighbors from another country noticed how beautifully everyone took care of their homes and decided to plant some beautiful red floral arrangements in front of their home. This inspired me to create this original Oil Painting. Thank you, Marie!!!

Outside My door
In the past I have written about how my visual art is sometimes musical to me. I even named some of my oil paintings that were painted with music in mind. all the other Arts inspire this same visual response. More Artists should look at prose and literature the same way.
This brings me to my new creation. Using only a poem written by my Artist Friend Karen A Smith. Karen wrote: "Especially outside my door the daffodils are blooming while birds are singing the pale blue sky.
Especially outside my door the daffodils bend together as the strong wind pushes the space between them around. Especially outside my door the spaces between the daffodils sway around as the birds are singing the pale blue sky. Especially outside my door the daffodils bloom." Tell me how you like it and how it makes you feel. I would LOVE to know!

Cream and Sugar
In my youth, I would visit my relatives upstate and there was a wide variety of china and ceramic table settings. Most were very much like this painting. All different styles and colors. I was always fascinated by this because of the beauty and delicacies of the designs. I never could figure out why they had handles. Even at my young age I could not get my finger in the handle. I was of course instructed at the proper two-finger hold. Every time I see one It brings back great and loving memories. Enjoy your memories too.

Purple Vase
Purple! It is not a difficult color to work with or mix. To get the exact purple color you want is another story. I remember in my classes years ago the instructor told the class of 20 to mix the color of a STOP Sign. None of us got it right. That was my problem with purple this week. It is too complicated too explain in detail but I went through every tube of purple, blue and red. Mixed many many combinations that didn't work. I went into the deep spaces of my oil paint drawer. There it was never opened BELLINI "Cobalt Violet". I purchased this tube of paint in 1972 from "Ralph" at the hardware store on Mill St. in Bristol, PA. I had to pry the cap off the tube, but it was still usable. And it solved the problem. I hope you like the results. It took a long time to get here!

Worn Wood
I don't know why I am attracted to old and worn-out materials. anything that has made it through the test of time I suppose. Or the history surrounding the object or place. I think if it was used it was appreciated and needed. I also love the mix of this color and its effect on the painting. Looks like an easy painting but I will suggest to other painters to stay away from molding if they don't use rulers.

LIFE - Bowl of Cherries
Having some FUN! We all heard the expression "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries". It was a song with music by Ray Henderson and lyrics by Lew Brown, published in 1931. Ethel Merman introduced this song in George White's Scandals of 1931. A Rudy Vallée version, recorded in 1931, spent five weeks in the top-10 pop music charts. Re introduced in 1953 the year I was born. HUMMMMMMMMM. "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". Well if not the cherries those Apple a day might help If all else fails have a beer and relax. Enjoy your day. Better days are coming.

Please Don't Cry
As an Artist, I feel it is my job to express my thoughts and feelings about our world through my oil paintings. Included in those thoughts is my Irish heritage of which I am proud. Considering all of this, my main goal every day is to be happy and healthy and share this feeling with those I love. Laughter and silliness enter into this child-like attitude. Our world has many terrible, scary, and upsetting situations happening. In the arts, we express the need to go forward, and never give up. Tomorrow is another day. So in the pursuit of happiness and laughter, I present to you my silly Oil Painting. Title: Please Don't Cry, Medium: Oil on Linen Panel, Size: 9 x 12", Price: $1000 USD
